Elder Chris expands on his recent livestream message on discipleship from the Old Baptist Weekly. In the gospel of John, Christ feeds five-thousand men with five loaves and three fishes. The next day many came to see Christ for more food. They didn’t come for the preaching, but rather the natural food. Jesus explained that those who eat of his flesh and drink of his blood are made partakers of his divine nature. To receive this would cause them to let go of their way of thinking regarding eternal life and they were offended. It was not by reading the scriptures or following the law, but rather Jesus Christ in them was the hope of glory. Considering this, He asks very little for us in discipleship compared to what he went through for us, and Elder Chris encourages us to lay aside other attractions and seek his kingdom first.
