Elder Chris Crouse – Romans: Paul’s Systematic Theology, Chapter 12, Part 1, Your Reasonable Service

Up to Romans 12, the Apostle Paul has established doctrinal truths surrounding the grace of God.  He now turns to practical principles on how to be better disciples.  He begs us, by the foundation that God is a God of mercy, to present our bodies a living sacrifice.  As in the old testament, their sacrifices were the best of their flock.  Likewise we are to give our best unto the Lord without looking for anything in return, because it is our reasonable service.  He cautions us not to be like the world.  Elder Chris compares this to desiring to put on old grave clothes that have the stench of death.  Rather we should spend time in the Word and prove out the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.
