Elder Chris Crouse – To Reap What Is Sown

Elder Chris turns to Galatins 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”  While we are thankful that we do not have to stand before the Lord in a final judgment for the sins we have committed, our sins are held against us day-to-day as we live here on Earth.  Elder Chris provides the example of how Jacob tricked his father into believing he was Esau to receive his father’s blessings, not honoring the right of the first-born.  Later he reaped those sins by unknowingly marrying Leah instead of her younger sister, had to wait to marry Rachel, and then experienced a divided house through their struggles, similar to his own life with Esau.  But what a glorious transformation when the Lord changed his heart and used those very experiences to show Jacob who he really was.  A sinner, depraved, and in need of the Lord for all things.  Elder Chris reminds us that we should not expect to live un-godly lives and receive godly results.  These experiences remind us of our nature and that we are unworthy of the least of His blessings, fueling the deepest feelings of a poor child of God.
