Elder Chris delivers a wonderful sermon on the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead in John 11. He encourages us that the same power that rose Lazarus awakens us in a spiritual sense. In John 11:23, “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:” Elder Chris explains that Jesus is able to provide life at anytime, not just at the last day. Just as Christ gave life then in the literal sense to Lazarus, He gives life now through the power of regeneration, and there is coming a day when He will call His children home. Elder Chris leaves us with the roles in the church: to be as Lazarus, a witness to the life-giving power of Jesus Christ; to serve as Martha; and to worship as Mary. He encourages us to play each of these roles in our own church and to draw near to the giver of life.
