Elder Chris Crouse – The Shimei’s Of This World

At a time when David’s sons and his nation had turned against him, Shimei targeted David during one of his lowest moments. He misled David into believing that Mephibosheth had abandoned him when David needed support the most. Later, when Solomon assumed the throne, David gave him guidance regarding those who might cause unrest, including Shimei. In his wisdom, Solomon confined Shimei to Jerusalem, warning him that if he ever left the city, he would be put to death. Shimei agreed to these terms, but eventually sealed his own fate by disobeying and leaving. Elder Chris encourages us not to hold grudges or seek vengeance. Instead, we are to wait on the Lord to deal with the Shimeis of this world. He reminds us that a day is coming when the Lord will take vengeance and bring us home to be with Him in glory.
