Elder Chris Crouse – Between the Cherubims
Elder Chris reads of David’s efforts to bring the ark of God to the city of God. He examines the instructions to Moses on its construction where we find a mercy seat between two cherubims where the Lord would descend and meet them. Beneath the mercy seat was the law on two tables of stone and on the day of atonement, the sacrificial lamb blood would be sprinkled on the mercy seat, covering the law. This was a beautiful picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law that we could not. But the ark was often handled incorrectly, looking to the ark itself rather than God. Elder Chris encourages us to comply with His commandments, always looking to God himself, where there are great blessings to nourish and sustain us in His service.
