Elder Philip Conley – The Lord is Not Slack Concerning His Promise
Peter warns of those that believe all things continue as they were from the beginning, and are willingly ignorant of it. The scoffer says “Where is the promise of His coming?” and Elder Philip proclaims we should never let the world rob us of the expectation of His coming. He considers God’s promise of a son to Abraham and how he waited twenty-five years for the promise to come to pass. The point is time is a relative thing to God. So what is God waiting for? Elder Philip explains that if God had ended the world a long time ago, he would have perished because he didn’t exist, and God is not willing that any should perish. One day when every heir is regenerated, there will be no need for this world and we should walk with Him looking forward to that day when we will be with Him forever.
